I’m starting a Mystic Music Mondays. Every Monday, I’d like to show you 5 new bands/groups that I like because music like this is helping me keep my f**king sanity moderately stable. I discovered some music last week while listening to a Communion After Dark video and just wanted to share my favorites.

Basszilla

Disclaimer: The music video below has brief nudity.

We’re starting with BASSZILLA, described as a EDM/progressive house/complextro project from Germany. I never knew there was a music video for “Hell Rave”, but I love it. It plays on the a lot of the Satanic Panic junk that happened in the 80s. Even LaVey pops up. I can’t listen to this without dancing a little bit. The music was alluring in itself, but it was nice to find the video. It made me smile.

Do I have a migraine or do I just need to dance?

MONO INC.

Oh if only we could make this song the official goth anthem. The song “Children of the Dark” has lyrics many of us can relate to. MONO INC. is a German Gothic Metal band. Apparently, “MONO is a derivative of Monomania, a term from the 19th century psychiatric disease theory, a form of partial insanity conceived as single pathological preoccupation in an otherwise sound mind,” (Wikipedia).

MONDTRÄUME

Mondträume is a Spanish dark synthpop group with melodies that have become ecstasy for me. When I heard them on Communion After Dark, I listened to just them for a good part of the evening, so it’s safe to say they’re pretty addicting and inspiring.

Rotersand

I found yet another German electronic group, but Rotersand is more industrial pop. The song I ran into, “Waiting to be Born” had me at the faint choir in the background. That just always gets me. The video below shows the singer on a boat with a reassuring message in “Not Alone”.

Mendel / Mendel bij de Leij

I stumbled upon this epicness in the Spotify Playlist “Instrumental Madness” and feel so honored to have been graced with Mendel. Just…holy f**k please just listen to “Descending Upon Hades”. Mendel is a rock/metal guitarist from the Netherlands (but probably a god in disguise, idk).

The whole album is probably going to be my new painting music, so I’m just going to leave the playlist here.

Hope you liked my discoveries for this Mystical Music Monday! Anyone you recommend? Leave a comment below.

Yesterday, I had to accept two things. The first was that I suck at taking my own advice initially, but then it sinks in after I get over my panic attacks and myself (haha!). Second, I really want to write articles and blog full-time, so I’m going to just do it. As I work on my own dark arts, I want to write more about other dark or gothic works that inspire me; painters, writers, musicians, films! And I’m going to infuse that with my mental health writing and metaphysical interests, of course. It’s too important to me. This is what I’m going to do for the rest of my life, create and be inspired to create so here I go. No more random gaps of silence from me. It’s time to be brave.

If you’re like me, maybe you had a history of shutting down your emotions. Perhaps you have a history of having your true feelings invalidated by those closest to you; a long, long history of emotional neglect. There’s power in emotional that can only be felt to be understood and I truly believe the most artistic souls are the ones who embody that because they break out and use that power to fight for what they lost long ago in that horrid history of emotional neglect.

It’s a blessing simultaneously, awakening us to an empowering reality that can also be very painful to process. That power can transform into a sickness that is so unique it seems incurable, yet it’s cleverly hiding the truth: it IS the cure.

I’m calling to you, my fellow goth and emo kids. It’s okay to feel alive and I promise you there’s nothing more thrilling than taking back your power through artistic means. Channel your emotional retaliation through shock, through awe, through horror, through beauty. Express yourself. Be alive. Stay alive.

Edit 11/25/2019: A few of those earlier sentences didn’t make sense before lol fixed them now. Sorry about that.

I laid down some vocal tracks for the “Love’s A Burden” cover today and am starting to hone in the sound I’m wanting to portray in future music productions. I’m quite thrilled, but I am a bit stumped on what genre to call this. As I’ve said before, I’m exploring a goth subgenre, but it’s not really darkwave or anything of the like. It’s this goth, electronic, classically-influenced…thing. I don’t know what to call the thing, but whatever it is, I’m excited to share it. Hopefully, it will be shared with you all by this weekend. Fingers crossed.

468x60 Get More Done, Together

Believe it or not, I got this idea while doing a meditation today. I want to start uploading my own poetry of the gothic/horror genre onto my Youtube channel (It’s dead right now, but you can still subscribe lol). I’ve been trying to find other goth/horror blogs, channels, and tumblrs to just get a feel for what the community is like. Though I’m goth myself, I think I’ve always been just a little shy. I’m ready to get out of my comfort zone a bit and post more content that isn’t as time consuming. Digital art takes time. Writing my novel is taking forever, of course. My music takes time as well. Poetry is one of the few things that naturally flows, is simply to edit, and it’s something I’ve wanted to share, I just…yeah. Sometimes anxiety wins. I actually wrote a poem about that and I will hopefully have it posted tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Please chat with me and tell me who your favorite poets are? Or people who read poetry who are really fun to listen to. G.M. Danielson is pretty awesome. He doesn’t read just poetry though. Lots of horror short stories too.

Also, I have a music recommendation. Witchhouse is my new favorite genre.
